I just bought it and compared it side-by-side with the original; it doesn’t smell the same, even though it shares a profile. It has a rich opening but is less intense and projects less than the original Profondo. After 15 minutes, it starts to resemble the classic Aqua di Gio more than the Deep version. It’s rich, but as a substitute for Profondo, it doesn’t convince. Its biggest flaw is longevity: between 3 and 4 hours, and by the end, only a hint of anise remains, losing that initial freshness. Arab houses should improve if they want to compete with Armani, which, while not luxury, isn’t cheap either.

The real differentiator is the dry-down: it becomes slightly powdery and creamy, like a tangerine ice cream, unlike the marine accords the original keeps. Still, I recommend it; it’s an easy-to-love, rich scent that smells high-quality.

I’m going into detail because my nose hits a limit with this note, and the fragrance is right at the top for me. It’s a gentleman’s perfume for gentlemen.
